I
grew up on Cleveland's west side, went to University School
for high school, then received a BA with a major in Writing
Composition from Denison University. While at Denison, I studied
under David Baker, Dean of the English Department and winner
of the Midland Poetry Prize for Sweet Home Saturday Night.
I was Co-Editor of the Denisonian, and Poetry Editor
for Exile literary magazine. I was one of three to win
the Annie MacNeil Poetry Prize, and was also awarded first place
in the faculty-judged Best Personal Essay contest.
After
graduation, I moved from Cleveland to Washington, DC, where
I invested three years in the writing of a novel that was destroyed
when my hard drive crashed and floppies incurred fatal injuries.
Following a brief period of mourning, I started Animals
in the Clouds, for which I am currently seeking
representation. In 2000, an illness in the family drew me back
to Cleveland, where I founded VerticalLift,
a web design company that also offers hosting service through
its affiliate San
Francisco Host. I have written hundreds of poems -- several
of which are accessible on this site -- and also enjoy painting.
